| Summer is gone as are all of you. But the fall-like weather reminds us that itÕs time to reconnect with our customers and look ahead to the holiday season.
Our biggest news this year is our upcoming merchandising makeover! As winners of a contest sponsored by General Mills and the Retail BakerÕs Association, we have been chosen from hundreds of bakeries across the country to receive a renovation of our retail space. Have no fear-little will change! The heart of the plan is our desire to Òimprove our customerÕs retail experience while maintaining the historic traditions we all value.Ó Watch for our grand reopening in late spring. If you are a fan on Facebook weÕll let you know when the big party is! You wonÕt want to miss the Pillsbury Doughboy! We are now members of Sustainable Nantucket, an organization whose mission is Òto preserve the community character of Nantucket while sustaining its economic and environmental vitality.Ó This summer we packed up our goodies and went to the Farmers and Artisans Market located just off Main Street each Saturday. It was terriÞc to connect with new customers and offer our loyal friends another outlet to Þnd us.
Once again, we were voted in as Best Bakery on Nantucket by the readers of The Inquirer and Mirror and Cape Cod Life magazine. With mentions in Well Wed Magazine, Plum TV, The Inquirer and Mirror and the New York Times we take great pride in all the media attention. But more importantly, we have enjoyed a season of support from all of our faithful friends. You are the ones whose opinion really matters! Thank you all for thirty- three terriÞc years of island tradition!
You may notice that there is no change in prices this year. We consider it our own economic stimulus package and the best way to thank our loyal customers. As always, our hope is that when you open our catalog you are reminded of Nantucket and summers with warm memories. Let us help you share a taste of summer with family and friends.
Our authentic Portuguese bread, as featured in the Improper Bostonian magazine, continues to be a perennial favorite. Did you know that each loaf is preservative free and hand molded to give it our distinctive, traditional texture and flavor? Nothing except the hands has changed about the Portuguese bread at the Bake Shop in over 40 years. From small to large, there is a bread item to satisfy any family. Cranberry granola is returning this year with two sizes to choose from. For the smaller household we are offering Simply Granola. This one pound bag of granola is sure to be a major hit not only at the breakfast table, but also as a quick snack on the go or a bedtime treat. And it's even heart healthy! Very Berry Granola is our original tin pail stuffed with two pounds of the ever-popular cranberry granola. Returning this year we present our wonderful, colorful crafted felt tote bag that we think offers a fresh and modern twist to the traditional. You may order the Bread Bag packed with two loaves of Portuguese bread. We have a variety of colors-we will choose one for you. We love to see the totes over the arms of our returning summer friends each year! We still offer the Breakfast Basket, which includes one loaf of Portuguese Bread and one loaf of Portuguese Sweet Bread, Cranberry Preserves, Foggy Morning Tea, Cranberry Granola and our insulated travel mug. Again this year, we are offering our cookies in various assortments and in three different sizes. From the Mini Pail of one baker's dozen to the Piggy Pail with four bakers' dozens, we are sure that we have a size to fit every home and every appetite. As always, the cost of each item includes the cost of priority air shipment. Remember that we guarantee satisfactory delivery if we are given a correct address as recognized by the USPO.
